The Chairman and Committee of the FLBA are pleased to announce the Bracewell Essay Prize, in honour of the memory of Dame Joyanne Bracewell DBE, will be open to all members of the association who are less than six years call. A prize of £4,000, and a runners-up prize of £1,000 will be awarded to the winner at the annual dinner of the association on 24th February 2012.

The subject for this year’s prize is:

 “To be ….or not to be at risk? Are the courts protecting children appropriately from the likelihood of future significant harm?” 

The maximum number of words for the essay is 3000.

The Chairman and Committee are delighted that the judges of the competition this year will be the Rt Hon Lady Justice Black DBE and Ms Jo Miles, Director of Studies and Fellow in Law, Trinity College, Cambridge, and Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Law, University of Cambridge, and an Academic Fellow of Inner Temple.
